I love roses with a mix of colours in their petals. I have rose "Crazy for You" a mixed red and white of petals, which my wife and I saw at the Tatton RHS Show and "went crazy for it". I might just be tempted by "Oranges and Lemons", although where I can plant it is another matter:D:heehee:

Hi Angelina, yes that looks it. Here's mine as it was last year:

I really do love this rose and it must be special as my wife and I always used the old maxim of "a rose is not a rose unless it's scented". "Crazy for you" has a very light scent but on the occasion of seeing and buying it we forgave it:heehee::D

Armandii, I could hardly suppress a shriek of delight at the sight of your rose!:dbgrtmb: I planted mine last spring and it seemed a bit reluctant to grow, but I have covered all roses with a mix of all-purpose soil, cow and rabbit manure and left-over dry grass from the lawn mower.
I hope my little beauty feels cosy under the snow now and will soon be like yours! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Hi Woo, you're right, once bought a rose will give you colour, scent and value for years.

Hi Angelina, well, if your "Crazy for You" was planted last Spring then it's roots should be nicely spread into the soil. It's sounds like you're putting all the right things into the growing area and the rose should be okay. I did find that, like most roses, it was a heavy feeder and so I was giving alternate weekly feeds of Miracle Grow and Tomato feed and it seemed to leap ahead on that.

Although my wife and I liked roses we were not fanatics with them. We only had one rose bed but after a couple of seasons abandoned that theme as it was bare of colour for too long in parts of the year. So now it's a case of a rose of special liking dotted here and there in the borders or specifically planted to grow up a feature. Having said that I did a bit of a mental "double take" when I went through the names of the ones in the garden now..............19 varieties in all!! That came as a bit of a surprise to be honest, but this is what's in the garden:

            Climbers: Shrub/Floribundas/Minature

            Alchemist / Uncle Walter
            Compassion / Trumpeter
            White Skyliner / Regenberg
            Bright Future / Rosemoor
Madam Alfred Carriere / Crazy for You
            White Cloud / Cindrella
            Leverkusen / Pour Toi
            Masquerade /
            Veilchenblau /
            Albertine /
            Francois Juranville /

That's a real surprise to me............and to make matters worst I've just succumbed and bought "Oranges and Lemons" from Style Roses.:mute: Now I've got to find a place for it!!

Buy roses - new introductions - David Austin Roses

wollerton hall looks nice (according to the writeup, it is 'extremely fragrant')

I only order david austin roses for my clients as I have never been let down, and find their descriptions to be spot on ...

Hi Dim I find that David Austin Roses are great ,no worries there, each to their own,but I have never purchased any, just to expensive for me personally and my clients ,I use lots of different growers, all over the British Isles and have done for 50 years, especially when I sometimes have to order 50 Roses for the big houses(the smaller growers give a better discount and it keeps them trading):WINK1::)

Luckily, we have an authorised D. Austin distributor/producer here and they release some limited quantities wholesale for the Bulgarian market. We order through the forum - it's a real bargain and the quality is unmatchable to anything available locally!
