I tried an old favourite this year Alysum.
Well it has a quite short lived flowering period, quite disappointing really so I cut it down to an inch of it's life.......and low and behold a lovely second flowering.
    Interesting.

That looks awesome ! As soon as anything in my tiny garden looks over its best, I too chop it right down always a success am now on 2nd flowering of delphiniums,Shasta daisies, golden rod and Phlox. I am very keen at the moment as I splashed out on some new Japanese secateurs managed to cut my fingers...Am now really going to wear gloves in the garden.

Funny, I always worry about chopping my fingers off with the secateurs when I'm really having a go at some tough old shrub.
