    Hi friends.
Have any of you recently puchased a shredder,as i need to get one soon, and i wondered it you you could point me in the right direction as to which is a good buy.I need it to cut back over hanging branches from my neighbours shrub hedge
which runs 90ft in length down one side of my garden.(2ft x 18mm dia).
My neighbours are elderly and i said that i would do it for them.
I have a budget of about £100 but i might stretch
to a bit more (if i miss a few sunday dinners).

Are you sure you need a shredder?

You do not say what kind of plants/shrubs, perhaps a good prune with clippers would do and just burn the prunings - I mean bonfire night is approaching and I am sure you could get 90 ft in before sunday lunch.

If it's a one-off job you'd possibly be better hiring a shedder rather than buying one.

Now thats an excellent idea Dave!

All too often we buy cheap tools, have the trouble of finding space to store them and maintain them and its such false economy..........says me with 4 lawn mowers!

The only problem is that you may be committed to hiring the thing on a totally unsuitable day for doing the work. Not such a problem with a shredder, but a real pain with scarifiers, rotavators, etc. [IMG]
