a simple search engine!!

    maybe a search bar where you enter a plant name and all posts on that plant suddenly pop up

    just had a look at the current search facility - and certainly, although it does more or less do that - you have to know which section it was mentioned in - like in the beginner's, for example. That would be useful! ;)

    Hi, in our search facility you can specify 'General Discussion' which trolls through all sections, however far back you specify. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    The only complaint I have is that sometimes names are spelled wrongly, and the search won't pick that up, but that's our fault, not the searchs'!
    I think it's an underused facility and might benefit from being given more prominence.

    I agree fully, if the users want something specific, if it is spelt wrongly, you have little chance of finding it, but as you said, if you specify General Discussion it will usually pick out all manner of topics, You can also specify that the search 'finds' what you put in the search bar in either the 'Topic heading' OR in the 'entire thread' .


    A very very underused and understated tool of this site.

    I have said before and will say again, I intend to put a thread up with regards to good use of the search facility.
