I looked out of my window this morning and found this kingfisher in the garden sitting on a frosted EE.

Sorry about the quality of the photo, it was raining and I took it through the window with a lot of zoom.

A rare treat, I've only ever seen a Kingfisher on the river before, never in a garden.

What an amazing sight! Kingfisher must be one of my favourite birds besides the humming bird but guess you wouldn't see one of those in our gardens!!! [IMG]

You lucky thing, amazing that you were able to get such a clear picture; they are such a fantastic colour. I had one visit my pond in my previous house, I sat mesmerised watching it dive in a get some of my fish, it was such a rare site that I did not mind sacrifising some of them.

I wish I had seen it fishing, the pond has a lot of small rudd which I would happily have thinned out in this way.

At my parents in the lake district i used to have to leave for work at 5am and i once saw a huge Herron standing in our pond, the noise of the car engine made it fly away, i drove down the road to pick my fellow work mate up and she jumped in the car very excited saying she had just seen a huge herron flying by.

Ponds bring alsorts of walks of life to the garden.

WEll done Rich. When i've tried to take a picture through the window the results aren't very good. It's a picture to treasure.
