A strange twiggy thing

    I wasn't sure where to put this, but...............
    We thought it was a twig stuck to the tyre, but it was soft.......

      100% Buff Tip moth.The larva{caterpillar} love to feed on birch foliage then the caterpillars will crawl away to find somewhere to hibernate for the winter before emerging in the spring as a new generation to start the cycle all over again.We often find the caterpillars on our birch hedge in the front garden and if we are not careful they will strip the foliage and we end up with no copper coloured leaves int eh winetr months....

      ...and thanks from me. There is in fact a silver birch tree nearby, but I've never seen these twiggy-looking caterpillars before. Phalera bucephala, huh! I hope they're not hibernating behind the motorhome tyres - might come a cropper when we set off for our weekend jaunts.
