A boy who raised more than £320,000 for cancer charities has died after battling the disease.
Liam Fairhurst, 14, from Soham, Cambridgeshire was in remission for more than a year but found the cancer had returned in 2007.
Gordon Brown, when chancellor, presented him with a certificate after he raised £70,000 to help children with cancer, via the CLIC Sargent charity.
His family said he died on Tuesday after fighting the disease since 2005.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair and undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and several operations, Liam travelled widely to events to raise money for cancer charities.
He was spurred on in his fundraising by the memory of a close friend who died from cancer in 2006.
He was featured on ITV1's Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway show talking the panel of millionaires into donating £50,000.
Speaking about his fundraising, Liam said: "You feel a sense of achievement that you've got the money and you can't believe it, 14,

A very very brave lad, whose heart accommodated everyone... His life may have been short, but it was not wasted.. To think he could do all that in his short life is a truly remarkable achievement.. I am sure his family is heart broken, but knowing how their boy has helped so many others too, must fill them with a special pride..... I take my hat off to people like him..! His Legacy will live on..

People like this youngster are the true heroes and celebrities of this world. He really has achieved something worth celebrating.

Thoughts and good wishes go to his parents who had the strength to encourage him to keep giving when many would be just getting.

I think Hec has summed up my view. It's these sort of people who should be splashed all over the National Press and Media rather than so called celebrities. This young chap has left the world a better place than it was before he arrived. There's not that many people that you could say that about (IMHO)

I saw this brave little boy on the news before he passed away - he looked so frail. I cannot begin to imagine what the parents must be going through although I would hope they gain some strength from what Liam has achieved.

When you hear news like this of someone giving back to the world it restores my faith in human nature.
