Yes, a truly remarkable person Pro Gard. Thank you for bringing him to our attention. It's a bit of refreshment in a week of news about what shameful and shameless people have been doing with tax payers money.

I think most people are basically good, but this man has it in spades.

What a top man (and his missus).

I know of another example though. One of my first gaffers was loaded (not as loaded as this man, but loaded none the less). He deliberately set up his business in a less than prosperous area and his recruitment policy to was to recruit people with potential, but who due to their background might find it hard to do well (ie people from skint families where going to college then uni and waiting several years to start earning was not really a viable option). I met his criteria and was hired. He trained us all up and gave us opportunity after opportunity to develop. Outside of his company he was also 'santa'. Every year just before christmas he would go to the local post office/general store and hand over a sizeable chunk of money to the postmaster, with instructions to box up a load of decent sized hampers and give them to the pensioners when they came in to collect their pension money. He did this not for personal merit, in fact he swore the postmaster to secrecy, it only came out when the postmaster accidentally slipped up and mentioned my gaffers name when someone was chatting to him about the mysterious anonymous benefactor.

I certainly admire them and what they have achieved and done for other people.

Good question Claire .... and maybe money was involved that did or did not go to charity.

All of ours goes to charities both animal (as we are cat lovers) and cancer societies when we go as cats are our 'children' and I have gone through cancer as have other members of our family ... but I must admit we're on a smaller scale than these folk so we'll keep it till the end ...

Seems such a pity the 'Expenses' Grabbing MP's of this country aren't as free with their donations to such worthy causes.
