A Wander round Muchelney

The Priests House, got attacked by a Chicken there once.





A bit of the Abbey is still standing.

 

But Henry VIII disolved the rest of it, must have taken a lot of Vinegar to do that.












These steps lead to a room above the porch called a Parvise. They were often used as a school room.

Lovely pics Zigs. I like the priests house, but the thatch could do with a little attention.

 

Thatchers are too scared to go there, because of the chickens. They did the house next door though & put a straw Reindeer on the top over Christmas

 

Very nice. I like that sort of thing.

 

Thatched cottages are very pretty, but if I owned one I'd be permanently paranoid. Fancy having a very flammable roof.

No, chicken attacked Ziggy whilst delivering a bed there.

 

And a very flammable roof that is expensive to replace too!
