I have one of these which is about 8 years old. I know it is this variety because 2 years ago it had ONE blue cone. As they supposedly produce cones freely and at a young age, any ideas about mine? This year it looks really healthy, loads of new growth, but again, no cones... :(

Liz, did you want it for the cones? Because, to me, as long as it`s healthy, I wouldn`t worry about them ( the cones ). If you do want cones then I would suggest you try feeding with a high potash fertiliser. This should encourage the tree to produce cones next year.:)

Mines come up with the goods on a few occasions, but nothing last year and nothing this year.
Mine did get hit by an aphid infestation last year and lost a lot of needles, so I'm not suprised.

I bought it because of the cones, so I will try feeding it. I am glad it is looking healthy this year as it has had a somwhat chequered history, it's been moved 3 times and at one stage was nearly bald.
Hope yours is OK this year, Pete.

Mine produces cones every year, although not quite as blue as the above pic
Unfortunately the blue doesn't remain ... it would be lovely to have dried blue cones on the Christmas tree :)
