This is an Acacia Pravissima,I raised it from seed sent me by Moderator Pete.
I was alarmed to see it's lower'leaves' falling so I planted it in the border. Since then there has been rapid growth. Is it normal for leaf drop and will there be regrowth lower down the branches.

I dont think you will get any growth from lower down unless you cut it back.
But I think that might be a bit risky.

You could cut a stem or two back hard into the old wood and see what happens.

The leaf drop is not normal as far as I can say.

Pete,I think it may have been suffering due to being in the tub and the neglect all of my pot plants had while we were away from home. I also had it staked because it's a wobbly old boy and that too was removed in an effort to strengthen it up.
I was also wondering if I could trim it to one branch and make it more of a standard specimen,I assume it will thicken and be able to support it self in time.

I think a standard is posible, but as you know, it will need staking for quite a while to stop any rock.

Off topic a bit, hope to be coming out your way in a couple of weeks to the airshow at Fairford
