I grow the ordinary Acanthus, Mollis I think it's called. I have seen a variagated variety offered for sale which looks amazing. I was wondering if anybody had any knowledge of growing this variety and I am presuming it won't be as prolific being variagated? I live in Scotland so not the wamest part of the world and my soil is pretty acid. I'd like to try and grow it if it will "do" here. Hope someone can help thanks.

Hi have looked at Tasmanian Angel ?as well

I would love to know a UK supplier

I know it is very hardy but would require full sun and a deep root run and dont let dry out in the summer thats were everyone goes wrong
I would probaly put a cloche over the top in the winter

I've got Acanthus Spinosus in my sandy, neutral soil garden in the centre of a raised border. I don't think it minds what acidity soil it's in but they do prefer lightish soil if they can get it. I can't see why the variegated variety should be any less in growth then either Mollis or Spinosus and Spruce is right it will probably pay to protect it during the Winter. If you do get one let us all know how you get on.:D
