Another one of my 'babies'; I grew this from seed a few years back and it grew into a slightly ungainly 8-10ft specimen in a large pot at my mum's. Being so tall there was no way I could get it here unless I chopped it back, so I took the plunge and cut it back to a 1ft stump; knowing they can be treated in this way.

That was last spring; I fed and watered it well through out last Plants 018.jpg summer and it produced this lovely multi-stemmed tree of around 5ft in height after one year. Today I planted it in the ground...:dbgrtmb:

I planted 2 acers last year in a garden in July .... a small bloodgood and a large 5 foot high palmatum ....

both lost all their leaves well before autumn and at first the leaves browned on the edges, then browned all over and they lost all their leaves in october

checked today, and both are full of buds ... so hopefully they will do better this year ... just hope that we don't get a late frost
