I have a water butt, not able to save rainwater to it, what can I add to the butt so as to change the ph content.

Unless the EU have banned it..you could previously get from gardening shops little sachets of sequestered iron for adding to water for acid lovers

Where is source of water if not rain water from gutters? Be wary of what you use it for if it's from washing machine run off etc, as the detergent residue is not v. good for veg growing. + Soap is usually alkaline, therein making your water butt contents the same. Barley straw is good for this or proprietary products from the garden centre specifically for this problem. good luck!

One ammusing story (or not so for the chap concerned)that was in Garden news about someone who saved rainwater in a garden tub especially for watering his acid loving plants..until he noticed many of them looking sickly with pale yellowing leaves..this had him puzzled for a few weeks until he spotted the builders he had in doing work on his house washing their trowels out in the tub at the end of the day!
