As soon as we have all finished with the overwintering , we will have the dark and boring winter months. I was just try to looking for something to do and remembered of Acquascaping . I would love to keep in the Tropical section , as it may can inspire someone. takashi amano
Another Japanese genius on my list of people to beating up , it`s 3 year that I try to grow moss on stones and he manage to grow on the top of the tree roots .... His name is Takeshi Amano
Looks very hard to acheive sal, keep at it thou you could end up gcs aquatic vegitation expert soon looks like an expensive hobby but very impressive
Joolz , never copy peoples , but just get inspired by them . I just want a new fish tank for my betta , away from the cats .... When I was young i used to help a friend of mine in his acquarium shop , you will not belive how much peoples are spending for that hobby , like every hobby in the world there are alway extremist. you can spend up to £3.000 for a pair of those.
Hi Sal Amazing photos, I used to keep topical fish years ago I think the picture above are Discus fish ? plus all my plants always died after a couple of weeks Spruce
Spruce there is a secret behind that , my friend used to make some similar to those , it was taking him about a year , all the plants are planted in shallow water untill they spread .....many plants sold in acquatic center are actually not water plants , but simple border plants that can tollerate submertion for a period of 6/7 months. I`m really try to remember the name of the technique , only seen on magazine about creating garden that will look like fish tank . that`s why I was talking about inspiration .....
Sal, I am very big into my tropical fish too! I actually don't like those japanese aquascapes. They take a lot of work-but where are the fish?! My 550l tank has South American Cichlids which destroy most of the plants I put in.
Takashi Amano , apparently only use neon tetra , that means he use a really low PH , I think just for the sake of the plants . South american cichlids , are huge , but not as vicious as the African Cichlids , better for color ... I will stick with few bettas ....well one , I`m only build a fishtank for plants ....rain water and low water level.
Sal, I had a Malawi Cichlid tank for a few years, yup, they are quite aggressive. But some of my SA are quite agro too. One or two had to go back to the fish shop. There is something called a paludarium https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=p...qFuSr0QWF1YG4CA&ved=0CCQQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=652 It's a mix of a fish tank and some tropical plantings. Really nice. Here is my tank:
I can see few ramirezs and an angel fish , nice balance as many fish are south american ....it would have impossible to keep an african Cichlid in there , they would have killed all the other fish and eat all the plants . those are the public anemy number one....the most aggressive of all yes what I`m planning to build is a paludarium , but it will be a slow process as I ot limited budget and time .....
