Not sure who's 'on duty' but could I please put in a plea for a reminder to those seeking planting advice? It saves so much time and tapping if the poster gives a rough idea of whereabouts they live and the conditions of the planting spot or position of container re. sun/shade. Thank you

 

Could I request that all posters ensure that they complete their profile, giving a 'rough indication' as to their location.
None of us will 'just pop around' to do your garden, you can be assured of that!

I agree. What is the point of asking for advice when you could be living in the Shetlands or like me in Hampshire.

 

A pop up to recommend adding location/ aspect etc (with explanation why) would be great for new people joining the forum.

 

It might bump up the post count but it also gets very repetitive and, frankly, tedious. For genuine newbies to gardening and GC, a friendly word in the Welcome bit would be.....welcome

 

Or ignore the question.
While I agree its nice to know where people are, it shouldn't really be a condition on joining, should it?

 

Thanks Loofah and Wiseowl. For some reason I thought that you took it in turns . I suppose it's fair comment that someone new to gardening doesn't realise the importance of location and aspect....I'll get me coat

 

I think some people may not be asking questions that require a location, some people may be a bit wary about giving away too much information about themselves until they have used the forum for a while.
I agree when asking a question the location should perhaps be given in the first question if its location related.
