do you mean brighter area as in full sun?

i thought acers preferred dabbled shade (for reds etc who need some sun for leaf colour) or partial shade (for the others mainly greens) etc and lots don't do well in full sun and can suffer leaf scorch

        Hi

Its too late to move now you will have to wait until late November to March is the ideal time.

If you decide to move it now, I would say you will kill it , just not worth the risk

Thank you everyone for your posts :) I found out it was an Acer by looking it up in one of my new aquired gardening books but it didn't say much about if I could move it and so glad now that I've left it be, I was going to move it to full sun so I could see and enjoy it more but not at the cost of killing or scorching it:phew:

It needs to be somewhere sheltered as they don't do well in wind, so you might want to bear that in mind when you move it. Looks like my Skeeter's Broom.
