You could sow some annuals for your border for now, and spend some time at the GC checking out perennials and shrubs for all-year-round colour. There are also plenty of bedding plants available now for an instant fix.

Have a look at car boot sales, and also any garden shows or village fates etc. With garden shows, perhaps go towards the end to see if you can collect any really good bargains. You could also find some reasonable local garden centres that you may want to visit.

Purchase some seeds, but try to go for ones that are hardy perennials,or half hardy annuals and don't forget, you only need one of each perennial you buy, as you can collect seed/divide later on to give you more plants.

I would also look for small pots of things. I purchased the other week several perennials for 60p each. They were in a 9cm pot if not smaller, but they will grow and develop, and I'll have free plants next year!

    Hope this Helps!
