    Hi Guys

As you can see from my profile pic, my lawn last year looked great! However, that was before I actually bought this house and moved in at Christmas.....I've just scarified it with a spring-tine rake and got loads of thatch up. It still looks like it has lots more there though but I don't want to wreck it totally!

What would you advise and should I be thinking about feeding too....? Thank you for listening.:)

    Hi Jan,

Looks like it needs 'greening up'. I have/am using Vitax Epsom Salts (other products are available!) - magnesium sulphate - which is used by plants for the production of chlorophyll. It's worked nicely on my laurel hedge in the front garden which was looking more yellow than green.

I suspect that lawn feed products will contain magnesium sulphate - so might be worth a look in B&Q.

    Hope this helps :blue thumb:,
    Chris.

Your lawn still has a lot of moss in it which is why it looks that pale colour. You could lay a moss and weedkiller and then feed later or do the whole lot in one treatment with a complete weed, feed and mosskiller all in one. The moss will turn black and will have to be scarified. The lawn will look bad for a few weeks but will recover. The other option is to keep scarifying with a rake until it's gone.

Thanks Sheal - I'd better start writing a list of garden products to purchase before the weekend!:)
