    Hi

I've just bought some seeds. Its a Lupin flower. Ive also got some seed compost. Now I need some clarfication on what it says on the packetk.

"Soak seeds in tepid water for 24 hours prior to sowing"

Does the above mean just spread some seeds on a plate sprinkle some water? or literally a bowl of water and drown them?

The packet has approx 60 seeds, now in those small seed trays you can buy is it 1 seed per hole ?

You submerge them completely for a few hours in a jam jar.

I would sow the seeds individually - 1 per hole as you say.

The seeds have been put in. I need to know how much water to put in and how often. If you look at the second photo Ive put water in as much as i can fill in that spoon. The packet says keep it moist not water or drown them. Is 1 spoon enough every 24 hours? or every 12 hours? Please advise.

If the soil is moist already, and you've covered them with cling film, they won't need any more water until they have germinated - unless they take months to germinate!

I wouldn't have covered them with cling film. If the soil is moist (as it should be) and the moisture stays near the surface (as it will do as it vapourises in the day, settles on the film, condenses in the night and rains back onto the surface), you have ideal conditions for fungal growth. If I was going to use cling film to keep the moisture in, I'd have put a dusting of sand on the surface of the compost first, in an attempt to deter fungi. The cling film also introduces another potential problem. Once the seeds germinate they will be keen to head skywards fairly quickly. If you don't keep an eye on them, there is a chance that they will reach the film and be constrained by it before you notice. Of course that won't be an issue if you check it daily without fail.

I've used that clingfilm method and provided you keep an eye on them and remove it as soon as they germinate they should be OK this time of year. Just make sure you keep them out of the sun otherwise it will get too hot for the seeds.

How long do I wait before transplanting to a bigger pot? the packet said 3" pots. What signs do I look for?

How big are those modules? They look big enough to me. Given that you've done one-per-module you can leave them there; when the module is full of roots (coming out of the bottom etc.) you ought to pot them into larger pots, but I reckon there is a fair chance that you will have planted them out by then
