Hello, I am a refugee from GW, thank you all for letting us in. I like that there is a specific forum for succulents here, I think they are gorgeous plants. I have been more successful with Aeoniums than my abilities should have allowed. From a single rosette a few years ago now I have a surplus. I did something silly 2 years ago: because it had grown to be a giant I dismantled the tree and repotted each rosette as per first pic. Now I have a big pot again ... Do you think it can stay as it is? For how long?

      Welcome to the forum @Coccinella

I wouldn't like to guess how long it will stay small, it obviously likes your position so I reckon a couple of years. You can always take bits off and repot to have a supply of shorter ones if you want.

Hi, I grow a few aeoniums and they are interesting plants.

looking at that pot full you have there I would say they are doing well, so would be a shame to upset them.
Usually you can tell if they are not happy as they go leggy and lose lower leaves, although they mostly tend to do that as they age and the stems turn woody, which in itself is not really a problem.

I'd leave it as it is for this year, looks good.

I've got some that spent the summer outside in a big pot and are in the garage now, where I overwinter lots of plants, Mine are just opening their yellow flowers, but they look rubbish as I had to remover the more tender ones to over winter in a warmer place.

          Thank you.

I will leave it as it is and perhaps take a photo at the end of summer to show how it progressed. I also have one sold to me as schwarzkopf but I am sure it isn't. It does go darker in full sun but does not become black. Any ideas?

I wouldn't even like to guess, but my Schwarzkopfs are a similar colour at the moment, until the light levels get stronger, the leaf shape does look slightly different though.

There are so many varieties and some look very similar or the names appear to be used in differing varieties.

Never discard anything from succulents I just stuck the flowering stem of an aeonium rosette in this pot and starved it of water all winter.
