[IMG] This little beauty has flowered for the first time.. I wondered what was happening when the leaf tips started to turn red... Then I spotted the buds appearing... As far as I know it is one of the many Aeranthos plants of the Bromelaid family... Open to correction of course...!!

Thats really something MF, just done a quick google, Tillandsia Aeranthos, I think.
Air plants is easier, thats a large flower for the size of the plant, that main rosette will probably die now, but you should get side shoots.

Couldn't take a pic of that in flower though, as it flowered while we were away..!! How dare it..!!!! ;) I have about 8 different ones so far.. So maybe some more will flower..!! They seem to like a little super thrive now & then..!! :D

The one I had was Billbergia Nutans, Queen's Tears. It had lovely strappy leaves and the flowers are fantastic. Had it for years and then it just died: [IMG] Never saw one again! [IMG]

Fantastic, I'm a fan of tilandsias, but can never keep them alive.

Vicky, I'll stick a rosette of billbergia nutans in with the shoofly seeds when I send them to you.

I agree Rich, they are very pretty, too, how long does the flower last? All these are just amazing and the colour outstanding! Thanks, look forward to that.

Come to think of it, mine was in a North facing window! Looks like a nice windowsill, MF ... perhaps a further away picture when your camera is charged? [IMG]

Very nice, MF, thank you. I like the grassy affair to the right and I love the little glass houses! [IMG]

I'd love to have something like that but have two problems, 1) the heat and 2) we have no windowsills as such here! The shutters are kept closed until the sun goes away to keep these old houses cool ... the 60cm thick walls help as well!

[IMG] Thanks, LoL, The grassy looking one has doubled in size... Well living in the UK, as you know, we don't quite have that problem here.. This window only gets a tiny amount of indirect sun for a short time in the afternoon, summertime only....!! They seem very content with it though.. As you can see are walls are 2ft thick, so hence the lovely deep sills.... ;) :D
