Does any one know where i can get a cheapish new 8x6 greenhouse with glass not polycarbonate glazing? Every one now is sold with the pc glazing but most people i talk to say it is useless and just blows out in the wind. Is it worth getting one with the pc glazing or just look out for one with glass? Cheapest ive found new is around 300 quid on ebay but that comes with a base too.Ive looked at a lot of adverts for second hand ones but people want a lot of money for an old and tatty broken greenhouse. Add in the cost of the greenhouse and the toms going to be grown in it are no longer cheaper than the supermarket.

That's a pretty good price really. I have seen one, again on ebay, for 279 with glass and base so hunt about. Have you tried freecycle?

Hi Kev, I got mine from Greenhouses Direct - a Europa Manor. They have some good offers on at the moment and I'm delighted by mine. You're still looking at around £300 for an 8x6 but it's a nice greenhouse. (see my post in Greenhouse discussion for the fun we had putting it up -- that was our fault, not the greenhouse's!)

Otherwise see what you can get on ebay if you're prepared to dismantle & collect it yourself. I sold my old 8x6 for around £80.
    Good luck!

I bought a 12' x 10' and a 40' x 10' on eBay. Forgotten the price of the first, but the 40' x 10' was about £400. I wasn't in a hurry and just did a search on eBay with very specific criteria and then pressed the "Save search" button - which effectively sends you an Email whenever there a new auction matches - and then you can decide whether to bid no not.

All the grizzly details are in my blog!
