Well, the Eastboard of America is bracing itself for a battering from Hurricane Sandy which could turn into a Super Storm if it combines with a Cold Front as forecast. Which means they could be without power in some parts for a week or two.
However, we always get some sort of bad weather later on which is associated with America's storms. so maybe there is some logic in the saying "If America catches a cold, we sneeze". Does any one think that we will get bad weather if Hurricane Sandy turns into a Super Storm??:dunno::snork:

I said something similar to Mrs C this morning - although the severity isn't likely to be as bad, I reckon we will get something stormy

We get the tail ends of the hurricains, days when you can't open the front door without the back one slamming.

This sounds like a bad combination for them, high tides too. They were talking about shutting the subway earlier. Loads of people been told to evacuate too.

Yes, that's the one, Joolz. But this one could turn into a very rare hybrid storm by combining with a large cold front heading East over America and possibly turning into what they are terming as a Super Storm with lethal potential.:runforhills:

Well that's two for me to worry about then! My son is in Columbus I just hope it doesn't get that far inland.

My daughter has e-mailed today to say the earthquake (7.7) off Vancouver, Canada yesterday evening hadn't affected her although she expected to feel it. The tsunami warning was called off this morning. Her other half often works on Vancouver Island which is just below Queen Charlottes islands where the earthquake hit.

All is well and no casualties. :)

We are under high wind warnings, rain warning as well as snow warnings.

If you look up Georgian Bay, on the Great Lakes, you'll see that Collingwood is at the bottom of the Bay(part of the Great Lakes), and we are in Sandy's path.

Plus we have the winter storm coming from out West that dumped all the snow in Calgary, a cold front coming down from the North, and then Sandy combining in there, should make it interesting here tonight.
