After hardening off.

I'm in the process of hardening off some plants now and hope to plant them out not this weekend but the weekend after.

Is it ok to plant them with the first set of leaves covered with soil so that the first set of true leaves are above the soil or should I plant them with the seed leaves (?) above the surface of the soil too?

 

When the plant grows the seed leaves will fall off soon after anyway, so I don't think it matters much, the plant will continue growing

 

I'd say it depends on the plant and how far it is between the seed leaves and the true leaves.
In most bedding plants I'd suggest you only plant slightly deeper.
Some veg, Toms being a good example can be planted a couple of inches deeper.

But if the plant has not gone leggy, you dont really need to anyway.

 

If you are not sure [for the specific plant] I recommend not planting deeper than the Seed Leaves.
