Weymouth Bay from Greenhill Gardens looking towards Lulworth.

The other direction towards the town.

Distant shots of a Spoonbill on the RSPB reserve from the Beach road, couldn't get any closer. :(

    Wow - a spoonbill.

I've never seen one of these. Apparently they may visit the Exe estuary, which would be the nearest to me. Well spotted Strongy!

Looked like a beauty of a day in sunny Weymouth.

It is always uplifting to see the sea.

    Thanks for showing us.

CM, there are several Spoonbills around here usually at Poole Harbour, here or Abbotsbury. they seem to like our mild winters and fortunately are becoming more common, the Cattle Egrets are doing the same staying here instead of going to Spain or Africa for the winter.

Mrs Pal and I have spent many hours on those pebbles when our kids were small..they couldn't run off ;) And years before that the two of us walked the gardens as twenty year olds [IMG] We stayed in a flat under the Chemist,Robinsons I think. Memories, leave me alone!

That is fantastic for you Strongy - to have them overwintering so near to your home!

I have looked more into it and there may be a chance of the odd sighting in the Lynher River at this time of year - a small tributary off the Tamar, near to Torpoint. You have set me a challenge to try and see one now!!!

It would be lovely to see more photos of any other visitors you may get to the reservation near to you!

    Ahhh Paladin...young love eh?

There are pics of the Cattle Egrets and others in What's buzzing around... if you use the search button at the top and type in Cattle or Little Egrets, Radipole RSPB, Arne and birds from other members, something should come up. [IMG]
