I must say your Aldi and Lidl shops have much better non-food items than ours do. In saying that, Lidl's seeds are 25c a pack, 69c for the up-market stuff, and their fruit trees 1.5-2.0 metres tall are under a fiver (Euros). They are obviously not so keen on bulbs here because of our climate.

All the above perrenials you can see £1.06 each, number of on the pack. Begonias and Dahlias 96p each (Dahlias = fist sized!)

Also bought 6 Roses, 3 climbers and 3 Floribundas for £1.46 each..they also had Hybrid teas..too many to sort through really and if we had of done we'd probably have bought more !

They also had propogating seed trays, fleece and landscape fabric. And those cheapie 3 and 4 shelf zip up greenhouses.

More gardening offers next thursday, including water butts, compost bins, tomato food and a walk in greenhouse (6ft high 2 ft deep and nearly 5ft wide) plug plants and growbags and more.

I think our Lidl here in Ireland has its special offers on different weeks than in the UK, but this week I bought some really good tools - a fork and spade for 13 euro each. I wouldn't normally buy cheap tools but these are stainless steel with ash handles, seem very strong, and I've been digging with the fork the last two afternoons and am very happy with it. I went in first thing on the morning they came into the shop, and when a friend went at 12.30 they had all gone!

Lidl and Aldi are getting a good reputation for cheap plants, and thanks scillygirl I will bear that in mind if I need to replace anything of mine.

Very sad that all the eryngiums had gone when I got to mine today, there had obviously been some keen gardeners in they had been thoroughly rummaged through.
