Well I popped in and duely purchased a couple of Red Gooseberries, a Loganberry, a Goji Berry and a Fig Tree.....just couldn't resist, hopefully they will boost the future fruit harvest of our garden :thumb:

They are lovely healthy plants too, in open topped packaging (no sealed bags), I would buy them now though if you want any because Aldi don't often water plants (least not ours anyway) and any that are left in a few days will be drying out

Saw these in mine on Weds, but they all looked underwatered, so didn't bother!

Our Local Aldi was selling the Fruit collection and Clematis. While I thought the asking price of the Fruit was very good I wasn't impressed by the price of the Clematis. I can buy better and cheaper elsewhere which is surprising for Aldi.:mad:

I like Aldi but I do have a gripe about them. They have a non watering policy for their plant stock. It's become quite normal to see completely dead stock on sale, which can't be good for customers to see, just because they haven't watered them Yes, I know all about the insane Health and Safety policies thrust on companies but it's come to the stage where even the simple act of keeping plants watered and looking good for sale is being prevented. Also it's must be costing Aldi a heck of a lot in lost trade and stock.:dunno::huh:

When I first saw the Clematis advertised at £5.99 I thought it was a bit steep; thinking they were going to small plants, however when I went to buy the fruit plants I saw the Clematis and was a little surprised, they were fantastically healthy and were big multi-stemmed plants at around 4ft+ in height and in flower.

Maybe there are different batches at different stores but I thought they were quite reasonable given the size.

The watering thing is an issue with our store too, its a case of buy quickly because they won't get watered and they will be wilting in a few days. It's such a shame because they have some large hydrangeas in ours that they're trying to sell off but they're barely hanging on to life and you'd just be buying a 5lt plastic pot

I did get a close look at the Aldi Clematis, Bilbo, and they were in good health and growth but I can still get them cheaper in as good or better growth at a Country Estate just down the road. The Hydrangeas I saw at Aldi a week or so back were completely dead, not a sign of life in them. It's a great shame as it doesn't make financial, or gardening sense.
