I bought one Bramley apple tree yesterday as here was not much left when we got there (late in the day). Went back for a dozen of their seed and potting mix this morning, and the fruit trees area was filled up again so now I have two bramleys. I'm planning on training them into an arch.

Good morning Steve I to got there yesterday and fruit trees going flying out even a chap on a push bike and had 6or more in a bag on each handle bar.

I managed to get a Braeburn and Converance pear.

Interested in training on an Arch but could I do this with what I bought.

Have you used their seed mix before as I only bought 1 bag to try.

    Kath :)

I've used aldis seed and potting, their normal compost and grow bags..and all have grown plants well. The grow bags where lacking and I needed to add epson salts to those last year, I dont know if thats the same for all grow bags though.

Both of your tress could be trained into an arch, I'm new to this and am following advice from a Geoff hamilton DVD I have "The Ornamental Kitchen Garden". The sixth episode shows both how to train fruit trees, prune them for better yield and also takes a trip to a research place where they have grown all kinds of wondrous shapes. The dvd is copy protected so I cant even make a little video from that part to show you privately. But I DO recommend the Geoff Hamilton DVD itself if you can find a copy.

    Steve...:)

I've used bits from aldis for years and had great results everytime so when our local aldi started displaying their gardening goods last Tuesday I was sooo excited! Been and bought faarrr tooo many seeds, compost and the like and probably going to get the three tier indoor thingy.

A fan of Poundlands things too, been in this week and bought various bulbs and posts and some kitchen garden herb seeds and starter packs, just to get a few things on the go and get some colour into the place.

If you have a poundstretcher anywhere close they are doing the plastic greenouse things even cheaper than Aldi - and they do a walk in one for £20.00
