Has anyone any suggestions as to what I should put on the green slime between my patio slabs they do drain down on to the border so preferably some thing that will not kill the plants...for that reason I have not used house hold bleach...would Jeyes fluid be the answer? Oh I also have little dogs which of coure I can keep of it for a short time. :(

The cheapest way is brushing hard with a stiff garden brush [with or without soap/ detergent as preferred]- hard work, and depends how much path! Or hose with jet attachment. There are also products such as Algon and Fungo [!] but if you've got Jeyes I'd stick with that.
