I know some of you are going through dreadful weather at the moment, so I thought I'd share my day today with you ...

My ancient Prunus dulcis (almond tree) and Euryops chrysanthemoides (Paris daisy) both just coming into bloom are looking glorious in the sunshine ...

My beautiful black Magic Sam (Boo) goes a lovely chocolate brown sunning on the deck ...

Mad Calvos (Cal) is having a slight break from completely demolishing the cane roof over the Sand Bar ...

We went to lunch at our little riverside place in Alte (20 minutes away) and enjoyed the ducks sunning (you can just see Isabel, my pride and joy, in the background ... top down) ...

And there's lots of cats there ...

I hope I have brightened up the day for a few of you.

Thanks rosa and dq ... thought it might cheer a couple of you up. We are unusually warm for this time of year, I must say ... but we're not complaining. [IMG] Just hope it doesn't mean a "hot" summer which we've not actually had for a couple of years.

dq ... haven't seen you in a while and hope that line dancing is still going well ... I've been invited to join a group here but haven't done so yet. [IMG]

As yesterday was a Public Holiday here, we went down to Praia Grande, Ferragudo, for some lunch.

Yucca, Agave, Bamboo and Carpobrotus edulis and acinaciformis (yellow and red Hottentot Fig) under a Shinus terebrinifolia (Brazilian Pepper Tree) ...

Agave americana and varigated with Opuntia starting to bloom over a carpet of the Hottentot Fig, with a little Oxalis per-caprae (Bermuda Buttercup thrown in for interest ...

The beautiful flowers of the Sparmannia africana (African Hemp) which are in full bloom now ... this shrub was huge as I am holding the camera skywards ...

      ... to be continued ...

      Praia Grande, Ferragudo, continued ...

Phoenix canariensis (Canary Island Date Palm), Bamboo, Agave and I don't know what these red flowers are ... some sort of Aloe? ... I only noticed them when I uploaded the photos [IMG] ...

An Agave americana in bloom surrounded by Bamboo ...

And one of these little darlings always finds it's way to my side ...

I'm adding a close up (albeit a bit blurred) of these red flowers ...

Thanks, Sis ... we crossed in posting earlier as I added something so our little puddy man with such glorious colours is not the last one. [IMG]

I am always amazed at what grows at the edge of the beaches here ... quite astounding and it has to survive on its own.

Thank you rosa, shiney and pete. Don't think they are Kalanchoe, pete ... I shall just have to go back for another look. [IMG] My K tortuosa is starting to bloom now.

Today we went for an exhilerating walk at Praia de Gal©, probably the nearest beach to us, about 20 minutes, with Arma§aµ de P©ra in the background.
