    Hi

I need information (asap) i have just bought a Tillier rotovator from Mowerland it is 750 watt and i am not sure what size generator is required so that i can use it on my new allotment.

Seen one in BQ £99 but it has 900 watt running and 1000 max and the KVA is 0.9.
But i have been informed this is to small and i require a minimum of 2.4 KVA which is arounD 2400 Watt.
can anyone advise me who may a rotovator being used with a generator (asap)as there is another one in BQ which is £199 and has 2.4 KVA and if i know by Wednesday i can get 10% off day i am sure someone knows.

Id sell it and buy a second hand or new petrol machine. Electric outdoors is asking for trouble and the trailing leads etc are a right pain and a danger.

You could buy a half decent petrol machine for £300.

There would only be one lead and one would not use it if the weather was to bad and i see lots of people with rotovators and generators one has to be sensible when useing the equipment.

I could have bought a petrol one however its a matter of choice and other people on the allotment are a little negative about petrol ones so i guess whatever one buys there could be problems anyway thanks for your reply anyone else have any views on this.

    No problem [IMG] ,

I would say you need about a 1.5 - 2kv so the 2.4 would be fine also enough power to use to power your frezer should your mains at home go down.

Make sure you get one with a honda engine, there are lots of nasty unn branded chinese engines around, dont bother with a briggs and stratton either.

    Hi

Well i ordered the electric one on Saturday which should have been dispatched Monday however i phoned them very early Monday morning and informed them i had changed my mind and decided to buy a petrol one from the same company.

It is a two stroke Mantis Tiller i changed my because not only would i have had to buy a fairly high spec generator which was capable of running the electric rotovator and i thought with a electric rotovator and generator one has two things that could go wrong as now only one can go wrong.

I paid £275 i would have had to pay this for the electric one and a decent generator i know i could have had a second hand one off e-bay but i dont like buying certain things off there and one does not have a warranty for second hand.

Does anyony have a Mantis rotovator and if so what do you think.

Ive used them, they are good machines from a respected company and you can get spares, cant really fault them.

If the ground is right you can produce an excellent tilth, in some ways better than a larger machine as they dont 'dig themselves in' as mutch.

Strange, [IMG] I've got one as well.
Its not a machine for breaking new ground, but as Pro says it makes a really fine tilth, even in my clayey soil.

And the motor seems reliable. [IMG]
