I came across this on the BBC news. We all know the government is tightening our belts for us (and some might say they are keeping us in the longest recession in living memory, but I don't know about that)

It seems that our government and the governments of several EU member states are basing their austerity measures on calculations made by two eminent Harvard professors. The trouble is a student has found a load of errors in the professors' calculations. Its apparently been checked, double checked, and checked again, and the result is the same. The two top profs are wrong, and governments are basing their policies on this incorrect data.

    That could be embarrassing.
