I guess you mean this one -

    http://www.zimmerpflanzenlexikon.info/lexikon.php?id=926

It needs plenty of warmth and humidity the whole year round and a semi-shady spot. Sorry I couldn't find a link with pic in English. I had one a long time ago but unfortunately had no luck with it. Hope you do better.

    Hi Daz n' Debs

I have 4 Colocasias / Alocasias - Burgundy Stem, Black Magic x 2 and another one I can't remember the name of, plus an "Elephants Ear" of some descript.

None of them would survive outside over winter, so they are potted in the Autumn. I lost a beauty last winter due to rot. As I am in heavy clay, even if the temperature was mild, they would probably rot. This year I must be more careful and keep them drier and lift them earlier.

We saw a monster (3m ) at Hampton Court in a pot, so you can get them big - but a note said it's size depended on the volumes of water and feed you give it.

If you have a dry frost - free place to overwinter it - go for it!!!!
