Aloe vera

    Hi all

    Could some one please help. i have an aloe vera plant that i'd like to take a cutting of. is this possible and how is it done. any help / advice is appreciated.

    this is my first post so please be gentle.

    Apparently you can cut off a piece of leaf and let it heal for a few weeks before putting it into compost, that's what I got off google.

    You could also wait for an offset to grow and cut that off and plant, just like an agave. [​IMG]

    Hi GrubbyMitts

    I think it best to just wait for 'babies' to grow round the main plant
    then you can gently remove and pot up on their own.
    I bought one Aloe Vera about 18 months ago and have since had at
    least 30 plants from it!! Not bad for �£2.00?

    Thanks for the suggestions. there doesn't appear to be anything growing from it. is uppose it'll happen soon enough. waiting for side shoots to appear sounds like the best bet. what sort of compost does it need, anything special.
