I have Indian Summer. The coloured foliage looks good before flowering, then it flowers for months. I have a yellow one (named but forgotten) that gives me basically one burst and that's it.
Are there others that can be recommended as being as floriferous as Indian Summer? ( I once had a tall red that was long lasting too but don't know its name. It had a tiny bit of white variegation at the ends of the foliage - it definitely wasn't Rock and Roll.)

I once bought some cut ones as a gift, there was a lovely lavender one amongst them. I tried to buy a plant but was told by the grower it was protected and he wasn't allowed to sell his plants on. I have no idea what its name was. Not much help! I had one like your pic. but it has disappeared since last year, I guess the weather killed it. I have tried growing a yellow one without success.

There is a whole summer series of Alstoemeria. I have Summer Breeze and Summer Break which also flower a long time, as well as Indian Summer. There are several others too.

We bought three that now seem to be sold under the Summer Trio name.
They flower almost all year round !
Seem to be sold only as plug plants , now not available until next spring, from places like Dobies and T&M.

Thank you - the summer series looks very useful. I don't want the dwarf Inca type ones, as they need containers and a bit of protection. These appear to be hardier and mostly about .7 m. Though I do wonder what that red one I had was called - it was about 1m and robust.
