Does anyone have any alstromeria cuttings they could send me??? I've had several unsuccessful attempts at growing these, and I think cuttings might be the answer.
    Many thanks

    Hi Tiarella

I'm not sure Alstroemeria do well from cuttings as they are a rhizome. I've had a pot for a couple of years on my patio here and are about to bloom again having done so in the spring/summer. They do require quite a lot of sun and warmth for them to be successful even though they are frost hardy to a certain degree.

Perhaps someone who grows them in the UK may be able to shine a bit more light on the subject as to how to deal with them there.

Good luck, they are such a beautiful flower and bloom here for 4-6 months.

I've grown them but although they flower well I find them untidy plants.

Yes I think you need a few roots rather than cuttings and I would do it in the spring.

Okay, thanks for the advice, all, and I'll have a rethink next Spring.
