Alternative Alstros!

    As two of my faves are now in flower I thought that I would show them off with a thread of their own.

    Alstroemeria psittacina has really settled in well in its second year here and the tallest stands at about 1.8 metres tall.........................

    Although the second is not strictly an Alstroemeria it (Bomarea hirtella) is a climbing cousin . The family resemblance is clear in the small blooms.......................

      you will not belive , but my cats just broke them all :dunno: .....I was really looking forward to see them , I even collected some seeds and I will have to wait before seen them ....

      I can believe it! One of my cats is a right clumsy sod! But he is catching the odd squirrel lately so I let him off!

      Bomarea is easy (if slow) from seed. Plant World Seeds is where I got mine.
