    Are you a Prime member?

Well, I've just found out that Amazon will shortly be including adverts in their Prime video movies.

If you don't like adverts in a paid for video service - then you will have to pay an additional 3 bucks a month to have the adverts removed.

To me, this is the same as the BBC showing adverts and still expecting me to pay the licence fee. Not on IMHO.

As there is nothing I think I need from Amazon Prime I don't bother with it. My wife gets annoyed with them as they keep enrolling her without her wanting it. You have to actively go into the settings each time to switch it off. She did kick up a big fuss with them and I think they don't do it any more.

Surely the reason you subscribe to many things is to get it ad free, charging on top of the subscription to get it ad free seems to be a tunnel nobody but an idiot would go down.

I get the feeling Amazon prime will be losing customers, but then again, in these times of cost of living crisis there still seems to be millions with money to burn.

I've bought from Amazon just before Christmas and I think its easier to buy now without inadvertently getting signed up for Prime, that said, they do still hassle you when it comes to checkout.

I did somehow get signed up to Prime without noticing a couple of years ago and ended up cancelling once the free month was up.
TBH I looked at the TV channel and there wasn't anything that interested me, at the time, mostly stupid Sci Fi films, or films with OTT special effects.

Its not just Amazon thats doing a two tier service, with or without adverts, all the streaming providers are going that way.
              Disney+ are already two tier.

Might even happen with ITV and BBC in the future as more of their content goes online/streaming.

From what we have seen, they are not long 5min+ mutli ad breaks, but 30 second single ads so not as bad, though you cannot fast forward them !

Apparently, ads now account for 8% of Amazon's total annual revenue, so I can see this being the norm in the future.

Netflix offer three different packages, the cheapest being £4.99 a month but it's advert supported. We opted for the £6.99 a month package, advert free, but also because our daughter can access our subscription while she is at Lincoln Uni.

I am happy with Amazon and Netflix when you take into account the basic subscription for Sky TV is £26 a month.

We can now get our Amazon orders postage free no matter how small a price for the item and usually by day three. Our village shop now has a contract as a drop box for them. :blue thumb:
