Doing a small painting job today, the customer suplied gloss was a stagering £48 per tin.... organic pigments or some sutch!!!! personally I couldnt notice a differance to normal dulux trade other than the finish wasnt as glossy.

Not specificly, 75% of my work is garden maintance but I do exterior decorating and repairs, I can charge more as I price by the job as oposed to a day rate and it keeps me busy all year and provides variety.

Roders it was from Little greene paint company (daft name!!!)

http://www.thelittlegreene.com/ They bought it from a small ironmongery place hence the massive mark up compared to direct!!!

I use the F&B paint a fair bit, some of it is very good.

:thumb: My niece uses F & B & Little Greene quite often when painting some of the old listed properties she has on her books.... As for the colours & finish, not such high gloss etc... they are much more like the old paints which is why they are becoming popular...!!:thumb: I don't think it is that bad Pro & I like some of their colours...:)

Nice work, Pro Gard. How long do you leave the putty before overpainting, may I ask?

I've used Little Greene emulsion paint indoors and like it. I'm currently applying buckets of the stuff to my hall, landing and stairs. Like F&B paints, the subtle and unusual colours of Little Greene are what sold it to me. Their emulsion is also reasonably durable indoors and they do an "Ultramatt" emulsion which is as tough (so they say) as the endurance paints of Dulux - which I also like.

I've not tried their paint outdoors but I'd be prepared to give it a go.

Flinty, normally I use a trade trick of priming the putty with shelac knoting, allowing me to paint the folowing day.

This particular job however will get left a fortnight as the customer has dogs and didnt want the 2 doors out of action at the same time with the gloss drying.
