Smashing stuff jlottie. You must have put a lot of thought and hard work in to get it looking as good as that!

    Thanks Dave

My garden was a blank canvas in Dec 01 and I have thoroughly enjoyed filling it. I am lucky living in the SW with the mild climate. My lottie on the other hand is another story. I have cleared and sectioned it but the lack of water is causing huge problems for growing veggies, its an on going battle [IMG]

Lovely photos! I particularly loved the effect of the white honeysuckle, and the clematis. I could practically smell it!

It's very full! Just how I like a garden to be!

Re the allotment - do you have a shed to put a gutter and downpipe to fill a rainbutt? That's the way I'd be thinking.

Beautiful garden jlottie, well planned and well filled. May is beautiful - everything looks so fresh before the summer drought kicks in. [IMG]

Thanks for all your very kind comments. I really enjoy gardening, though didn't really get the bug till a few years ago. Still making lots of mistakes and learning from them (especially with the veggies)

Hi Dendrobium, I do have a gutter on the shed and collect water on the plot, but it wasn't nearly enough last year. This year I have the attic tank left over from a central heating upgrade and intend to get another couple of water butts for storage - fingers crossed [IMG]

Beautiful garden jlottie! I could almost smell your honeysuckle too! It looks so lush and healthy! Do you mulsh with manure? [IMG]

It took me back a few summers ago when we visited Cornwall...your tree ferns reminded me of the amazing Heligan! This is the best time of year to enjoy photos of our gardens in warmer times - I always used to hoard my summer films until winter time - the lift I got from seeing the garden in a different season was well worth the wait!

    Thanks for sharing your garden!

    Hi Jarbax,

I have been adding manure and garden compost each autumn as the soil wasn't too good when I started. It was all grass which was dug up and stacked and covered for 18 months (green sides together) then added back to the garden. I also had to add some lime to help break up the clay. I can't dig much deeper than a spade level in places as there are still to many stones.

The honeysuckle is wonderful in the evening after a long hard day at work, just sitting and smelling. It also attracts the hummingbird moth which is a regular visitor in the summer months. [IMG]
