Why is it that when other people get an interesting sport in their garden they become famous and everyone wants a plant?

When I get a sport it has to be a daisy in the middle of the lawn, and no one will want it.

Now that is a daisy worth photographing! [IMG] [IMG]

See wehter you can get it to breed true and you might have a winner on your hands. If not, I'm sure one of the Sunday papers could make a story around it. :D

Sadly Rich this is a fairly common occurrence in plants. It is called fasciation, from the Latin word for a bundle of twigs. (Also the origin of the word Fascism from the Italain Fascist party badge of a bundle of twigs!). It happens when two or sometimes more stems become fused together, most often because of damage to the growing tip. Sedums are very prone to this type of growth and one of our Forsythias often did it, till we got fed up and replaced it. The condition is not genetic so is not passed on through seed.

We used to make daisy chain necklaces ... this would make a lovely ring! [IMG] Very unusual.
