we have had more problems than I care to mention, but at last some construction, rather than destruction. We are now mid-way through the project. The chap has gone off on his holidays for 2 1/2 weeks.... after temperatures of 37 in the shade this week, I was glad he survived!!!!!! The side of the house from inside the garage/car port: along the back of the house: and finally - the back garden!!!!!
I like the wall with the brick facia, Honey Bee. It's going to look fab ... especially after you get out there in that garden and wave your magic wand at it! :D :D Keep us posted on progress!
Hi LOL Yes - the wall is going to look fab once its finished. It has to be double-skinned, and it is tilting back slightly to take the weight of the solid clay, which once wet can bring a lesser wall down in no time!!!! I am hoping to smother it with trailing and cascading plants - so ideas, please!!!!
I am assuming it is a sunny location, HB ... do Osteospermums do well there? O jucundum is hardy but if you are truly mild then the others should survive. They come in lovely colours and cascade beautifully, bloom all summer (there, winter here) and are everygreen! They can be severely cut back as well. What more could one ask for?
well - back from his holidays and supposedly a wet day, he decided to fell the tree (the big green thing above the tree fern in above photo) I came in from work and couldn't believe how bright the dining room is!!!!!!! We are getting there slowly..... We can now grow things down the left hand side!!!! (oh - the pigeons decided to go on their own accord before the eggs hatched..)
Well - had to have the wall - sleepers just wouldn't do the job, plus they'd be too dark.... loking for some cascading plants to trail down them..... and the boys are going to have fun chopping up the tree to take to the dump. Sticks, sticks and MORE sticks and a hacksaw..... what more could a young boy want..... ps - my Musa has just had another baby!! YAY!!!! :D
:D :D Looks great HB, can't wait to watch it grow, loving the paving :D Can I send my sodpot son to help chop it up? Should keep him out of mischief for hours! :D :D
Definitely all happening now, HB! :D Like the look of the spaniel - has he any brains? Most I know are a bit short in that area...
HoneyBee look at dendy's fantastic bamboo, as soon as I saw it I thought it would suit your new wall a treat! BM http://www.vanmeuwen.com/plant/63955
Brains!!!???? The dog is such an airhead, if she had brains she'd be dangerous!!!!! She is forever tripping up(???!!) and walking into lamp posts, trees and doorposts!! Far too busy tossing her ears saying "look at meeeeee - I'm sooo pretty!!!"  Gives us a good giggle, though!!! and she such a sweetie
