I am very disenchanted with my angelica. For years I've had the plant in a small container, and never realised what a monster it was! Now it has seeded it is going to be dug up and placed in the back of the garden, where it can run riot without overpowering everything else. I might try the purple one to see if it is smaller.

mine normally die down when they have self seeded ..i have taken some of mine down on the front garden now before they scatter seeds everywhere...i dont keep angelica in a pot its too big..perhaps you may have more luck with the red one..really they just add interest to the garden as they are so large you cant miss them..

I think I'll put mine back in the pot, It just grew to a manageable size before!
I planted it right next to the valerian, and it has all but smothered it. And the valerian smells nicer too. :(

I love valerian and the smell..i have bought a bottle of valerian essential oil as i plan to make some hand cream this weekend..I think angelica is only usefull if you eat it..i just let mine grow..i usually cut the lower leaves off my angelica when it flowers as it takes too much light from other plants..I still love giant size plants though even though they have certain problems..the wind is usually my worst problem!!
