For several weeks now there have been holes and subsidence in one of our raised beds. It all started when we noticed a mound of soil building up inside our shed that sits alongside the raised bed. The soil was removed only to be replaced by a second mound the next day. We discovered a hole in the lower cladding large enough for a medium size rodent to get through. Why would any creature move a bucket of soil into our shed? The hole was sealed which stopped the soil moving activities but we still have excavation going on in our raised bed which is built of stone 1.5mt x 0.5mt x 70cm high The only thing growing in the bed is an established pyracantha. I'm not sure if the critter is digging upwards or downwards, never ever seen what it is that's responsible .

... or vole, as small as they are they shift a lot of soil, as do moles. Can't say that either would make a hole in a shed mind you.
