Apparently it's a Kentish word meaning wander about :)

Would you believe it's at all the back in of the Co-op

:dunno: I`m not Kentish - was dragged down here by parents as a small child. The back of our local Co-op is just a mucky old yard and an equally mucky car park with a few bins scattered about...not a good place for a bimble - or anything else come to that.

Nice bimble and shufti! Few good snickets there! Lots of silly words, too!

Lovely amble @Zigs most enjoyable my friend:smile:

The word bimble, meaning 'to move at a leisurely pace', is said to have originated amongst British soldiers serving in the Falklands, I first heard it in the 1980's in the Sergeants Mess;)

Just confirmed, the chap from Kent that used the word in the mid 80's was indeed involved with the Falklands :)

I would say that a shufti is quicker than a bimble.....
