Another labelling question

Does anyone here use one of those digital label making machines for their plant labels?

A friend of mine wants one and whilst they all seem to promise everything you'd want in a labelling machine - and more - it does appear they all rely ultimately on 'sticky' plastic tape, similar to the old Dymo machines. I understand the digital printing would mean the tape wasn't embossed in the same way as the Dymo, but the real questions are: (a) do they actually stick (I always found the Dymo tape peeled off pretty quickly, even indoors) and (b) is it relatively easy to buy extra 'tapes'?

Any user's comments or recommendations would be welcome.
