I was passing a house @ a week ago, there was a skip containing kitchen units, worktops
plant pots and several other odds and ends. The house and garden had been cleared for renovation, so NATURALLY AS ONE DOES, I HAD A RUMMAGE.:dbgrtmb:.
I found an old garden ornament of a penny farthing,it was @ 5 ft high x 5lbcodong made of wrought iron and wood. it was in a bit of a state, very rusty and the wooden saddle and peddles had almost turned to dust. I had a wee think,( it lasted 10 seconds ):).then removed it from the skip and got it home.:dbgrtmb:.
I have spent a week restoring the bike. I used a wire brush and sander to remove the rust. I
made new peddles and a new seat from teak wood.
I gave the wrought iron an undercoat of metal primer then a coat of high gloss black paint.
I gave the saddle and peddles an undercoat and 2 coats of gold paint and highlighted various
features with the gold paint, it looks Fantastic:dancy:.
The Garden Feature now has pride of place at the front of the house. I made it fast with 18 inch long brackets bolted onto the paving blocks. great what you can do with a bit of reclamation.:dbgrtmb:.
My kids are calling me Mr Steptoe :WINK1:. They can call me what they want, to purchase a garden feature like that would cost a bomb.:WINK1:.

That's not a deterrent, Music, [well, it might be to you], not after you've experienced being nagged and harassed by Catztail and LouseD!!!:rolleyespink::what::DOH::mute::D

Not a problem, Dai, I've got metric spanners and some WD40 for a bit of stealth.:D

Sorry Lads I Have You Sussed :). I Am having a lad round today to weld the flat edge of the large penny wheel onto my existing wrought iron fencing..
The small farthing wheel is being made fast to the house wall, with flat iron bracket and welding..
To put you in the picture, sorry as i did not say in my post. When I erected the bike with the ground brackets ,I placed it intentionally at an angle, touching the fence and the house wall:thumbsup:.

Being of Sound Criminal Mind(A bit like yourselves):) I thought to myself !!'how could I remove this Quietly' ???.. SO I thought of this idea before making it a fixture..

So lads if you want the bike ? it comes with a free section of wrought iron fencing and a good bit of house wall and a picture of my WIFE.:heehee::heehee:.

You're getting too polite in your old age, Dai, you'll be saying "it's my round" next and that would worry us all:D:heehee::heehee::loll:

Music just doesn't realise the depths to which we will sink to steal, sorry borrow, that Penny Farthing, does he??:D Removing the brick wall attached to the bike would be the icing on the cake, we'd have the bike, the fence, flat iron bracket, the bricks, and then sell the picture of his wife to the Lowry gallery:love30::love30:. Has he not heard of Grinders, nothing is safe I tell you:heehee::loll::loll:
