Please can anyone help with our problem, we have a new lawn seeded about April time on clay soil.
It was growing fine but since around July there have been patches appearing in one area.
Some as big as a foot across. They have a reddish/pink tinge with fuzzy growths.
    Here are some pictures:

Is it some kind of fungus? The lawn has been given a "weed & feed" a few months ago.
Other than that nothing has been on it.
The lawn and hedges are my husband's domain so he's quite miffed! :help:
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mandy

If your lawn was only seeded in April, it was a bit risky giving it a weed and feed treatment a few months ago. That said, the patches don't look like chemical damage to me. The irregular edges to the patches make them look more like a fungal problem. It could well be something under your lawn that's causing the grass to decay locally. I can't quite see what those fuzzy growths are.

I note that you live in France but it's a bit late in the year to do anything drastic. I'd just rake out the dead stuff and see what happens early next spring. The symptoms, if they persist, may be clearer then.

    Thanks for the reply Flinty,
Things grow really fast here, so the lawn was well established when we added the weed and feed. I agree it looks like a sort of fungus, the lawns on clay, so not the best drainage.

red thread - improve soil fertility. Autumn feed now and nitrogen in the spring. Should be fine
