Just planted out my "Garden ready Begonia Sahara" received from JPD in April.
Still a little small, but they'll have to take their chance.
My local Nurseryman's offerings have been out for 3 weeks and are much further on. - should have stayed loyal.

It was sunny - i've been out in my t-shirt doing a bit of gardeing for the last couple of hours, came in for a cup of tea and it started to hailstone! It's still warm and the sun is now coming back out. Weird! I remember it did this whilst i was in Italy last year in June, for one afternoon we went from 38 degrees to hailstones. Crazy.

Just been in the greenhouse sowing sweet corn, squash and pumpkins. Got a bit of a surprise when I found that ants had invaded my bag of seed compost!
Picked out about a hundred large ant eggs which were much appreciated by my hens. :)
Had a very brief shower of rain while I was in there, just about dampened the soil (dust) surface outside but all is dry again now.

Pouring with rain in Beccles so retired indoors to highlight competition schedule for summer show and mentally work out which plants I need for the comps.

Weeded most of the veg beds - finger tip stuff between the peas and the asparagus. Put up pea netting and then pegged fleece to it as pigeons have just discovered pea leaves are tasty.
Took the first chop from the comfrey bed and stuffed it into plastic barrel to stew for use as fertiliser. Decanted some of last year's comfrey juice (pongy job) from 20 gallon drum to 10 gallon container for ready use.
Raked poultry pellets into brasicca beds as I'll be ready to plant out in a week from now.
Wanted to spray apple tree against scab but too windy!

Being one of those persons who suffers the cold, I quite like the idea of doing a sport wearing a jumper :heehee:

I was freezing on my bike ride, managed 31.5m but with temp of 13°C and 15mph winds couldnt wait to get home :o

It looks like you have all been enjoying the outdoors, which is great. It didnt rain here, although it did try to as it got very overcast but then it cleared again. I held off watering the plants hoping for the rain but it didnt happen, maybe overnight...

It's been cold and windy here, back to winter I think! The central heating's been on since 2pm.

Popped out this afternoon though and picked up two bottles of Roundup (on offer at B & Q) a bag of multi purpose compost, then popped to a local nursery to pick up my long awaited Buddleia Black knight, that was being grown on. Looks nice and healthy.

Still trying to get hold of Buddleia bi-color on the internet without success though.

That's the one Pinkfinger. It's a new hybrid, and the only website that has got it in stock at the moment won't deliver to the island.

I'm on the mainland in six weeks so I will hunt it down then. :)

Yesterday I cut a couple of hundred feet of privet hedge interspersed with plenty of 'cuppas and a good book'. Then picked up another 300 litres of compost which Mrs shiney promptly used making more tubs and doing more pottting on.

Today I shall get another 300 litres and hope that will be the last lot for this season as it will make me having bought more than 4,000 litres this spring :rolleyespink:. Then, if it isn't too windy, Mrs shiney and I will work out how to put a 5m x 8m tarpaulin over the pergola so there will be a covered selling area for open day. An added difficulty will be trying to stop Oscar the cat helping us.

There is also mowing, edgeing, weeding and loads more hedging to cut. Anyone coming in this direction is welcome to come and help :heehee:
